Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in teaching, research, innovation, curriculum development, and knowledge transfer.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in relevant disciplines (Clinical Medicine / Medicine & Surgery).
- Supervise and mentor graduate students.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish in reputable journals.
- Prepare and secure competitive research grants.
- Present research findings at conferences, seminars, and related forums, including policy briefs to Government.
- Build research teams for collaborative engagements with Partners, Government, Industry, NGOs, and Communities.
- Participate in academic administration and administrative functions of the University (Planning, Budgeting, Representation on Statutory Committees, strategic initiatives, and supervision of project staff).
- Perform any other official duties as assigned by the University.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Qualifications:
- PhD Degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognized awarding Institution.
- Master's Degree in the area of Clinical Medicine from a recognized awarding Institution.
- MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery) from a recognized awarding Institution.
- Registration with relevant professional body.
- Experience:
- At least seven (7) years of teaching and/or research experience in an Institution of Higher Learning, recognized Research Organization, or relevant Industry, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Lecturer or its equivalent.
- Evidence of five (5) new recognized publications in the area of specialization within the last five (5) years.
- Supervision of at least five (5) Graduate students to completion, one (1) of whom at PhD level.
- Should have acquired research or project grants of at least USD 50,000 as a Principal Investigator (PI) within the last five years.
- Evidence of Academic Leadership.
