Job Details
St. Ambrose Charity Hospital – Kagadi, a private not-for-profit hospital committed to providing affordable, quality healthcare to the underserved community, seeks a Pediatrician. The Pediatrician will provide comprehensive child health services including neonatal care, childhood disease management, emergency pediatrics and growth & development monitoring. This is a full-time position based at the hospital in Nakulabye Trading Centre, along Hoima-Fort Portal Road, Kagadi Town, Kagadi District. The hospital's St. Alex Men and Children Ward admits 90-120 patients weekly, mainly children with severe malaria, anemia and pneumonia. Salary is not disclosed. Work Hours: 8 hours.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide neonatal care including management of sick newborns and premature infants.
- Manage childhood diseases (malaria, anemia, pneumonia, meningitis, etc.) in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Deliver emergency pediatrics care and resuscitation.
- Monitor growth and development and provide immunisation and nutrition counselling.
- Conduct ward rounds, clinics and community outreach as required.
- Mentor junior staff and students from St. Ambrose Institute of Health Sciences and ensure quality documentation.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- Master’s Degree in Pediatrics and Child Health from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered and licensed with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in pediatric practice.
- Competence in neonatal care, childhood disease management, emergency pediatrics, and growth & development monitoring.
- Compassionate, dedicated and skilled in managing high-volume pediatric caseloads.
