Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, commonly known as Mbarara Hospital, is a government-owned regional referral and teaching hospital for the Medical School of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Founded in 1940 and officially opened as a hospital in 1953, the hospital has a bed capacity of 600 and is the referral hospital for the Western region, specifically for the districts of Mbarara, Bushenyi, Ntungamo, Kiruhura, Ibanda, and Isingiro. Located in Mbarara City and operating 24 hours, it offers a wide range of specialist services including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Emergency Medicine, Diagnostics and Physiotherapy. Job Details

Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant post of Physiotherapist in its Private Wing. The Physiotherapist will provide comprehensive physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to patients with physical impairments, injuries and movement disorders, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to restore function and improve quality of life.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess patients with physical impairments, injuries, or movement disorders.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including exercises, manual therapy, and modalities (heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation).
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, posture, and injury prevention.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborate with medical officers, nurses, and occupational therapists for comprehensive care.
• Maintain accurate patient records, progress notes, and outcome measures.
• Provide rehabilitation for post-surgical, stroke, orthopedic, and pediatric patients.
• Advise on mobility aids (crutches, walkers, wheelchairs) and ensure proper fitting.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 12 months (1 year) of relevant working experience.
• Registration and valid practicing license where applicable to the profession in Uganda.
• Knowledge of therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques and physiotherapy modalities.
• Skills in patient assessment, treatment planning, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal, neurological and paediatric conditions.
• Ability to educate patients and caregivers on home exercises and injury prevention.
• Competence in advising on and fitting mobility aids.
• Good clinical record-keeping, communication, teamwork and patient-care skills.
