MU-JHU Care LTD (MU-JHU Research Collaboration) is an indigenous medical research and care organization founded in 1988 as a collaboration between Makerere University, Kampala and Johns Hopkins University (initially Case Western Reserve University). Based at Upper Mulago Hill Road, P.O. Box 23491, Kampala, Uganda, MU-JHU is a key player in HIV prevention, care and treatment, community HIV programs, and non-HIV research and training. Its vision is a Uganda where all women, children, adolescents and their families enjoy full health and wellbeing, and its mission is to undertake health research, provide health services and conduct training focusing on HIV and other prevalent and emerging conditions affecting women, children, youth and families. Research domains include Perinatal HIV/TB Prevention and Care, Pediatric and Infant Health, Growth, Neurodevelopment and Bone Health, Bacterial Infections and Vaccine Development, and Blood Safety including Phase I-IV and adaptive clinical trials conducted under strict GCP/HSP standards. The Research Pharmacist role sits within this research pharmacy setting, supporting study drug handling and pharmacy documentation across clinical trials.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain professional GCP/HSP accreditation and complete study-specific training as required.
- Identify the drug requirements for the institution (study-specific drug requirements and general drug requirements).
- Adhere to and enforce general and study-specific internal drug policies and procedures.
- Perform stock management including forecasting, requisition, stock verification, assessment, storage and dispensing.
- Maintain pharmacy/drug storage physical infrastructure.
- Report to stakeholders on medicines usage/management and provide pharmacological information to the clinic team and patients/participants.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary study team to perform delegated duties and ensure timely communication and coordination.
- Participate in any other related duties reasonably assigned by the relevant authorities.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (Degree in Pharmacy) from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years working experience in a busy pharmaceutical setup.
- Research-related experience is highly desirable.
- Current GCP/HSP certification is highly desirable.
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly.
- Good organisational skills and ability to multitask.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to work under direct supervision of the Head of Pharmacy with guidance from the Clinic Division Director as part of a multidisciplinary team.
