About the Company
Uganda Martyrs' Hospital (UMH) Diocese of Jinja is a newly established state-of-the-art Private Not for Profit (PNFP) hospital in Jinja City, founded by the Trustees of the Catholic Diocese of Jinja under the Ecclesiastical Province of Tororo Archdiocese in Eastern Uganda. The hospital mission is to combine clinical excellence with Christ-centered compassion — healing body, mind and spirit without discrimination — and is envisaged to become a teaching and research hospital offering quality, affordable services with a Godly touch to both affluent and vulnerable communities.
The Diocese of Jinja (https://dioceseofjinja.com) is a vibrant Catholic community serving the people of Busoga since 5 August 1966 through evangelization, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and social transformation. It currently comprises 45 parishes, 45+ schools, 12 health centres and serves 50,000+ Christians under the pastoral leadership of the Archbishop of Tororo as Apostolic Administrator. Its Health Department coordinates PNFP health services in the diocese.
UMH operates within the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) network (https://ucmb.co.ug) — the health office and technical arm of the Health Commission of the Uganda Episcopal Conference. UCMB coordinates 34 hospitals (including 2 specialised hospitals), 19 health training schools, 4 laboratory training schools and 271 lower-level health units with over 11,323 health workers nationwide, delivering curative, preventive and promotional services in line with national health policy. Working at UMH therefore offers exposure to a large, faith-based national health system, strong governance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth in a values-driven environment.
